Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Interior ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) have agreed to strengthen practical cooperation between law enforcement agencies and information sharing, following their third meeting in Astana on 10 September 2026, the OTS said.
The meeting was chaired by Kazakhstan’s Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov and attended by the interior ministers of Azerbaijan, Vilayat Eyvazov; Kyrgyzstan, Ulan Niyazbekov; Türkiye, Mustafa Çiftçi; and Uzbekistan, Aziz Tashpulatov, as well as OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev.
The participants discussed the search for wanted criminals, efforts to combat cybercrime and transnational organized crime, the fight against extremism and terrorism, human trafficking and illegal migration.
The OTS secretary general presented information on areas of cooperation in justice and law enforcement, including interaction between interior ministries. He stressed the importance of developing joint projects of mutual interest to the agencies of OTS member states.
The ministers briefed participants on the law enforcement situation in their respective countries, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Particular attention was paid to direct interaction between relevant services, rapid information exchange and joint measures to prevent and suppress crimes.
“We did not speak simply about intentions today. Our cooperation has already resulted in solved crimes, the detention of wanted individuals and the disruption of criminal schemes. Now it is important to ensure that all agreements reached are implemented in practice,” Yerzhan Sadenov said.
Following the meeting, the ministers signed a Joint Communiqué of the Third Meeting of OTS Interior Ministers, setting out priority areas for further cooperation.
The interior ministers also highly appreciated the contribution of the OTS secretary general to establishing a platform for cooperation among the interior ministries of the Organization’s member states.
The next meeting of OTS interior ministers is planned to be held in Türkiye in 2027.
