Netherlands Defeat Sweden 5-1 to Lead World Cup Group F

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Netherlands national football team defeated Sweden 5-1 in the second round of the World Cup group stage. The Group F match took place at a stadium in Houston, Texas.

Several players scored for the Dutch team. Brian Brobbey provided a winning cushion in the first half with a brace, scoring in the 5th and 17th minutes of the game. Immediately after the substitution break, Cody Gakpo extended his team's lead with another brace, scoring in the 47th and 54th minutes. Crysencio Summerville completed the rout in the 89th minute. Anthony Elanga scored the lone consolation goal for the Swedish national team in the 59th minute.

With this victory, the Netherlands accumulated a total of 4 points and climbed to first place in the Group F standings. Sweden dropped to second place with 3 points. They are followed by Japan, which has 1 point, and Tunisia, which has not yet scored any points. The match between the Japanese and Tunisian teams is scheduled for the morning of 21 June Moscow time.

In the final third round of the group stage, which will take place on the night of 26 June, group leaders the Netherlands will face Tunisia, while Sweden will play against Japan. The current World Cup is co-hosted by three nations: the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
