Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A project to increase household incomes and create jobs for families in need is being implemented in the Kegeyli district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the presidential press service said. Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the operations of the greenhouse complex created on the initiative of the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction.

A total of 12.5 billion soums in concessional funds has been allocated for the project. A modern greenhouse made of lightweight structures has been built on an area of 5 hectares. At the first stage, 50 families included in the Social Register are taking part in the project, and permanent jobs have been created for them.

Each family has been provided with 10 sotiks of greenhouse area. The entrepreneur-leader assigned to the complex not only provides participants with the space but also trains them on site in modern greenhouse farming methods over two years. After gaining the necessary knowledge and practical skills, the families will be able to organise greenhouse production on their own household plots and create a stable source of income.

The entrepreneur-leader will purchase the agricultural produce grown from project participants at market prices.

Training in modern greenhouse and agricultural methods has also been organised at the complex. Up to 1,000 citizens a year are planned to be trained there, which should create additional opportunities for obtaining a stable income.

An additional source of earnings is also envisaged through duck breeding. Five hundred ducks are kept in a 350-metre canal located next to the complex. Each family has been provided with 10 breeding Favorit ducks imported from Brazil. Project participants are taught how to breed them.

It was noted that the project is aimed at developing entrepreneurship and ensuring employment for the population in rural areas. Separate attention is given to the approach of entrepreneurs who, alongside developing their own business, create conditions for raising the incomes of local residents.

Modern resource-saving technologies are used at the greenhouse complex. Solar panels with a total capacity of 100 kW have been installed on its territory.

The electricity they generate fully covers the complex's daily needs.
