Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals to strengthen social protection measures during the autumn-winter period, with a focus on reducing expenses for vulnerable families and expanding targeted state assistance.
The presentation noted that rising energy and raw material prices, disruptions in international supply and logistics chains, and continued geopolitical tensions are increasing inflationary pressures in many countries.
In these conditions, measures aimed at reducing the financial burden on the population are becoming particularly important.
The proposed social support measures include expanding existing mechanisms for compensating the costs of electricity, gas, coal and utility services.
In particular, during the heating season, it is proposed to increase the basic electricity consumption allowance from 200 to 350 kilowatt-hours for areas without gas supply and districts that do not receive natural gas.
It was also proposed to consider providing vulnerable families with one-time financial assistance in December.
Another measure provides for raising the per-capita household income threshold used to determine eligibility for compensation of electricity, gas, coal and utility costs.
The threshold is proposed to be increased to 1.43 million soums for vulnerable families not included in the Social Register. This is expected to bring an additional 166,000 families under state support.
In addition, it was proposed to extend until 1 April 2028 the mechanism for compensating part of the costs of electricity and gas consumption above the established basic allowance. According to estimates, the measure will support 470,000 families over the course of a year.
Work to improve housing energy efficiency will also continue. In mahallas with difficult conditions, 3,000 homes are planned to be insulated and equipped with energy-saving equipment.
The President instructed the Government to ensure the timely allocation of funds for the planned support measures, ensure their targeted nature and strengthen oversight so that assistance reaches every recipient.
Separate instructions concerned the transformation of enterprises involved in the production and supply of energy resources.
Relevant agencies were tasked with improving management efficiency, cutting excessive costs and reducing losses in energy networks.
