Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree awarding winners and participants of the 46th World Chess Olympiad and the 3rd Para Chess Olympiad, which were held in Samarkand for the first time in Uzbekistan.
The document was published on the official website of the head of state on 28 September.
The awards were presented for successful participation in the tournaments, outstanding skill, determination and resilience in competing against leading chess players from more than 200 countries, as well as for contributing to strengthening Uzbekistan’s international standing and promoting sport, the decree said.
The honorary title “Pride of Uzbekistan” was awarded to men’s national team member Mukhiddin Madaminov. Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Shamsiddin Vokhidov and Nodirbek Yakubboev were awarded the title of Honoured Athlete of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Men’s national team head coach Rustam Kasimdjanov and para chess team coach Samandar Shermuhammadov received the title of Honoured Coach, while Kamil Sindarov, deputy chairman of the Chess Federation, was awarded the title of Honoured Youth Mentor.
Javokhir Sindarov was awarded the “For Selfless Service” Order. The “Friendship” Order was presented to Nafisa Muminova, head coach of the women’s national team, Bobir Sattorov, secretary general of the Chess Federation, and Rashid Talipov, a sports official at the Cabinet of Ministers.
The “Courage” Order was awarded to men’s national team member Jahongir Vakhidov and five members of the para chess team: Sirojiddin Zainiddinov, Selbi Kakishova, Ahadkhon Kimsanboev, Sardorbek Mamaradjabov and Marcel Shayusupov.
The “Builder of the Future” medals were awarded to chess players Abdimaliк Abdisalimov, Khumoyun Begmuratov, Ortik Nigmatov and Muhammadzokhid Suyarov, as well as Chess Federation specialists in information technology and methodology Komiljon Azizov and Javlon Mardonov.
The “Healthy Lifestyle” medal was presented to competition organization specialist and commentator Bakhtiyor Jumaev, as well as women’s national team members Nilufarkhon Imomkuzieva, Guldona Karimova, Umida Omonova, Gulrukhbegim Tokhirjonova and Afruza Khamdamova.
