Ministry of Higher Education and University of Utah to Launch Joint Engineering Programs

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An official meeting was held at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan between Deputy Minister Uktam Salomov and a delegation from the University of Utah, one of the leading public research centers in the United States.

The American side was led by Randy McCrillis, Senior International Officer, and the delegation included key university experts in the fields of materials science and mining engineering. The main vector of the negotiations focused on expanding bilateral scientific and educational partnerships and the transfer of advanced technologies.

During the dialogue, the parties reviewed in detail the prospects for integrating the University of Utah into a large-scale project to establish the Global University of Education and Research in Uzbekistan.

The American side expressed its readiness to share international academic expertise, implement advanced educational standards, and launch joint master's and bachelor's programs in areas critical to the modernization of Uzbekistan's industry: engineering, mining, materials science, and IT technologies.

The meeting participants paid special attention to the synergy between education, science, and real-world production. Uktam Salomov and Randy McCrillis outlined algorithms for developing academic mobility for students and faculty members, and also agreed to conduct joint applied scientific research.
