Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — French technology company LINAGORA is considering placing part of its development operations in Uzbekistan and creating a regional centre in the country to supply software solutions to Central Asian and CIS markets.
The possibility was discussed during a meeting between Uzbek representatives and LINAGORA Founder and President Alexandre Zapolsky.
The talks were held in Paris on the sidelines of the International Space Summit. The meeting was attended by Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov, Bobur Khojayev, Head of the Department of Financial Technologies, Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence at the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan, and a representative of IT Park Uzbekistan.
One of the key issues was the potential establishment in Uzbekistan of a regional centre for LINAGORA’s software development and distribution. IT Park Uzbekistan presented the country’s talent pool, competitive cost structure and the capabilities of its resident-company ecosystem.
The sides also discussed support mechanisms available to LINAGORA in Uzbekistan and the benefits of obtaining IT Park Uzbekistan resident status. The project could contribute to attracting the French technology company and creating new high-tech jobs.
Particular attention was paid to digital sovereignty and the development of open-source solutions. The sides discussed the potential use of LINAGORA products, including Twake Workplace and LinShare, in Uzbekistan’s public and private sectors. These solutions enable organisations to maintain greater control over their data and digital infrastructure.
Artificial intelligence was another area of discussion. Representatives of IT Park Uzbekistan and LINAGORA reviewed the company’s experience with the OpenLLM Europe initiative and the potential use of open and auditable AI models, including LUCIE, to develop Uzbekistan’s AI ecosystem.
LINAGORA was founded in 2000 and specialises in open-source software development and digital sovereignty technologies. The company promotes the concept of a “third digital way” based on openness, ethics, inclusiveness and sustainable development. LINAGORA works with public and private organisations and has a presence in France, Tunisia, Vietnam and Canada.
The company’s portfolio includes Twake Workplace for corporate communications and collaboration, LinShare for secure file sharing, and OSSA, a technology framework supporting more than 500 open-source packages.
LINAGORA also participates in the European OpenLLM Europe initiative to develop open and verifiable artificial intelligence models.
Potential cooperation with LINAGORA covers several areas, from relocating part of its development operations and establishing a regional centre in Uzbekistan to implementing open-source solutions and developing open AI technologies.
