Justice Ministry halts SHARP trademark infringement

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan has halted another instance of intellectual property rights infringement involving the illegal use of the SHARP trademark.

The basis for the investigation was an appeal filed by citizen A. Akbarov, who reported a violation of his exclusive rights to the SHARP trademark by the limited liability company "N.T.".

Following the investigation, the Ministry of Justice established that the company used designations confusingly similar to the SHARP trademark without the authorization of the right holder, thereby violating the brand owner's exclusive rights.

In connection with the uncovered violation, an administrative offense protocol was drawn up against the head of "N.T." LLC under part one of Article 177 of the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility.

The Ministry of Justice noted that despite ongoing efforts to protect intellectual property rights, raise legal awareness, and hold violators accountable, cases of unauthorized use of third-party trademarks continue to be detected.

The agency urged entrepreneurs to register their trademarks in a timely manner and, if instances of illegal use are identified, to contact the hotline at 1008 or submit appeals to the official email address of the Ministry of Justice.
