JAC Motors Toshkent Plant Launches in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A new automobile manufacturing plant, JAC Motors Toshkent, has officially opened in the Yangi Avlod special industrial zone in Tashkent, with the launch of the assembly line for the first model to be produced in Uzbekistan — the JAC M3.
The opening ceremony was attended by Tashkent mayor Shavkat Umurzakov, who highlighted the project’s importance for strengthening the capital’s industrial potential, expanding modern production capacity, and creating new jobs.
The project is being implemented as a joint venture between JAC Motors and Toshkent invest kompaniyasi. Total investment in the project amounts to US$135 million, with implementation planned in two stages across a 30-hectare site.
During the first phase, US$35 million was invested to launch an SKD assembly plant with annual production capacity of up to 10,000 vehicles. Around 100 jobs were created at this stage. Production has already started with assembly of the JAC M3 model.
The second phase envisages a transition to CKD production with a full-cycle assembly process. Following expansion, annual production capacity is expected to increase to 30,000 vehicles, while the number of jobs is projected to rise to around 1,000.
The company also plans to manufacture additional models in the future, including the JAC M4, Sunray, JS8, RF8, T8, and T9.
The project is viewed as a step toward developing Uzbekistan’s high-tech automotive industry, increasing competition in the domestic market, and expanding the country’s export potential.
