Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — IT Park Uzbekistan and Serbian company SEE UP have agreed to develop cooperation between the startup ecosystems of the two countries.

The sides signed a memorandum of understanding on 3 September in Belgrade following a meeting between an IT Park Uzbekistan delegation and SEE UP DOO CEO Dušan Obradović, IT Park Uzbekistan said.

The delegation was led by Abdulahad Kuchkarov, adviser to the director general of IT Park Uzbekistan. During the talks, the sides discussed support for the international scaling of startups and opportunities to implement joint initiatives.

One of the main areas of cooperation will be strengthening ties between the startup ecosystems of Uzbekistan and Serbia. The sides intend to help Uzbek companies explore opportunities in the Serbian market, while supporting Serbian startups in considering Uzbekistan as a platform for entering the Central Asian market.

The memorandum also provides for cooperation in startup acceleration. IT Park Uzbekistan and SEE UP plan to exchange information on relevant programmes and opportunities and facilitate the participation of startups from both countries in related initiatives.

In addition, the partners intend to organise joint forums, webinars, business missions and other events. These formats are expected to promote experience-sharing, establish business contacts and create new partnerships.

The sides also discussed cooperation in artificial intelligence, AI-related educational projects, and research and development. Possible formats include exchanging expertise, launching pilot projects and developing links between startups and specialised organisations in the two countries.

Another area will be strengthening contacts among participants in the venture capital and investment ecosystems. This includes cooperation between venture capital funds, business angels and corporate investors, as well as the exchange of information on potential investment opportunities.

The signed memorandum provides a basis for further practical cooperation between IT Park Uzbekistan and SEE UP and for expanding international development opportunities for startups from Uzbekistan and Serbia.
