Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek racing driver Ismail Akhmedkhodzhaev won the Ultimate GT Sprint Cup category at the fourth round of the international Ultimate Cup Series, held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, Uzavtosanoat JSC said.
Akhmedkhodzhaev competed for Rossa Racing alongside Roman Rusinov in a Rossa LM GT. The crew secured two pole positions in qualifying.
During the race weekend, Rossa Racing also finished on the podium twice. One of those results saw Akhmedkhodzhaev take the top step of the podium at the legendary Belgian circuit.
“Spa is a very technical track where every lap requires full concentration, especially when the weather is constantly changing.
“That is why it is particularly rewarding to finish on top of the podium here, at one of the world’s best-known motorsport circuits, and represent Uzbekistan at this level. Thanks to the entire team for their work and to Roman for this weekend,” Akhmedkhodzhaev said.
The Uzbek driver’s participation on the international stage is supported by Uzavtosanoat JSC as part of efforts to support the development of domestic motorsport and represent Uzbekistan at international competitions.
Earlier, the Roman Rusinov-Ismail Akhmedkhodzhaev crew also competed at the European round of the Ultimate Cup Series in Mugello, Italy.
The Ultimate Cup Series is an international racing series held at circuits across Europe.
The series features competitions in GT, prototype and formula car categories. The Ultimate GT Sprint Cup consists of short sprint races in which speed, consistency and driving precision are key factors.
