Humo and Gorgona AI to study agentic payment infrastructure

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s national payment system Humo and technology company Gorgona AI have signed a memorandum of cooperation to jointly study agentic payment infrastructure, the companies said on 24 August at the Silk Road Finance & Technology Forum in Tashkent.

The work will focus on transactions that a software agent can initiate on a user’s behalf within predefined permissions.

The companies intend to develop approaches to operating such payment infrastructure, including methods for identifying a software agent and verifying its authorization. They will also examine limits on transaction amounts and authorization periods, the ability to revoke permissions and the recording of an agent’s actions in a transaction log.

Agentic payments differ from conventional automated payments. With an automated payment, a predefined transaction is executed according to a specified condition or schedule. In an agentic payment, a software agent determines which transaction to create and when to initiate it, while operating only within the permissions granted by the user.

Under the memorandum, Humo and Gorgona AI plan to develop a payment mandate model. It is expected to define a maximum amount for an individual transaction, a limit for a specified period, the duration of the authorization and the ability to revoke it at any time.

Another area of work will involve identifying the software agent and confirming its authority to initiate a particular transaction. The sides also plan to develop a control layer that can verify whether a payment complies with the issued mandate, limit the agent’s permissions and record each action it takes.

The companies will also study international approaches to agentic payments and assess the possibility of applying them within Uzbekistan’s national payment infrastructure.

The memorandum provides a framework for cooperation. At the initial stage, the sides will establish a working group and agree on technical requirements. Prototype scenarios will be tested in an isolated environment using synthetic data.

The memorandum does not provide for the exchange of real payment or personal data. Specific joint projects will be formalized through separate agreements.
