Ferghana Region to Adopt South Korean Healthcare Expertise

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Ferghana region plans to adopt South Korea's healthcare practices and expand cooperation with Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, according to the Ferghana region information service.

Ferghana Region Governor Khayrullo Bozorov held talks on 4 September 2026 with a delegation led by Professor Sergey Kim, head of the International Medical Center at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. The meeting focused on expanding healthcare collaboration, introducing advanced medical practices, upgrading specialist qualifications, and organizing professional exchange programs in the region.

Bozorov highlighted ongoing national reforms aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of medical services and expanding modern diagnostic and treatment methods. He noted that partnerships with international medical institutions, including leading clinics in South Korea, serve as an important component of this development strategy.

Under proposals raised during the talks, doctors from the Ferghana region will be sent to Seoul National University Bundang Hospital for advanced training. The parties also discussed hosting masterclasses and training courses led by South Korean specialists in Ferghana, alongside exchanging technical expertise in diagnostic and treatment methodologies.

Following the meeting, both sides agreed to formalize their partnership through a roadmap document. The roadmap will outline operational frameworks and concrete implementation steps between medical institutions in the Ferghana region and South Korea.

Seoul National University Bundang Hospital stands among South Korea's major university medical centers, specializing in high-tech diagnostics, medical research, and healthcare IT integration. The institution utilizes digital process management systems and provides medical care to approximately 1.7 million patients annually.
