Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Officers of Uzbekistan’s State Security Service and Customs Committee have foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs into Tashkent from Germany, the authorities said.

The operation was carried out in Yashnabad district as part of the “Safe and Healthy Country” program.

A 2001-born citizen of Montenegro, who was temporarily residing in Yashnabad district, was detained at a local post office while receiving a parcel from Germany. The detention and inspection were conducted in the presence of witnesses.

During an inspection of the parcel in accordance with established procedures, officers found 3 kg of the narcotic substance clephedrone and 1 kg of hashish concealed inside sports equipment. The seized substances were documented as material evidence.

Operational measures then continued at the suspect’s temporary residence. During a search of the premises, officers found 11 ready-to-distribute packages containing the narcotic substance Alpha-PVP, with a total weight of 30 grams.

Officers also found zip-lock bags, electronic scales and other items.

A criminal case has been opened against the Montenegrin citizen. Investigative proceedings are currently underway.
