Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk has announced that it is keeping under special oversight the incident involving the beating of a teenager of Asian appearance in the city center.
According to available information, on 30 September a group of adolescents assaulted a minor on Lenin Street while shouting ethnic slurs. The victim was forced to kneel and apologize for his ethnic origin.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for Novosibirsk Region confirmed that an inquiry into the incident is underway, with law enforcement working to identify those involved. At present, the victim’s nationality and citizenship are being clarified.
Through diplomatic channels, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan has submitted a request to the law enforcement authorities of Novosibirsk Region demanding full information on the case.
The diplomatic mission called on the media to refrain from publishing unverified information until official details are made available.
The statement emphasized that the situation remains under the strict supervision of the Consulate, which will continue to monitor the progress of the investigation.
