Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Outdoor advertising is prohibited on tangible cultural heritage sites in Uzbekistan, as is the unauthorized installation of advertising structures on their premises and in protected zones, the Competition Committee said.

The agency noted that work is continuing in Uzbekistan to protect, preserve and promote cultural heritage sites. At the same time, legislation in this area is being improved, cultural heritage sites are being digitized, and measures are being taken to promote them internationally.

In this regard, control over compliance with advertising legislation regarding the placement of advertising facilities at cultural heritage sites is being strengthened.

Under Article 26 of Uzbekistan’s Law “On Advertising,” the installation of outdoor advertising at tangible cultural heritage sites is not permitted.

In addition, the unauthorized placement of outdoor advertising on cultural heritage sites themselves, adjacent territories and protected zones is prohibited. Advertising structures that could negatively affect the historical and architectural appearance of monuments are also not permitted.

The Competition Committee is conducting inspections into cases involving the placement of outdoor advertising and information facilities (structures) at cultural heritage sites.

The agency calls on citizens to report identified violations and send relevant information, together with photographs, to info@raqobat.gov.uz and consumer@antimon.gov.uz.
