Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — In 2026, Uzbekistan’s Competition Committee and its territorial offices received 1,230 complaints related to e-commerce. The committee analysed the main problems in the sector and identified areas for their systematic resolution.
During the period, the authority received a total of 6,414 complaints concerning retail trade, e-commerce and public catering. E-commerce accounted for 19.2% of all complaints.
According to the committee, 704 complaints, or 57.2%, were resolved in favour of consumers. As a result, citizens’ rights were fully restored. In another 453 cases (36.8%), applicants were provided with relevant legal explanations.
A total of 33 complaints (2.7%) were referred, in accordance with the committee’s authority, to other authorised government agencies.
The largest number of complaints concerned major e-commerce platforms and instalment services. In particular, 446 complaints, or 36.2% of all e-commerce complaints, concerned Uzum Market. Uzum Nasiya accounted for 184 complaints (14.9%), Alif Shop for 92 (7.5%), the Ishonch retail chain for 69 (5.6%), and Yandex services for 63 (5.1%).
The analysis of complaints identified a number of systemic issues requiring further attention. In particular, the committee noted the need to improve the identification of e-commerce participants and increase the transparency of information provided to consumers.
Particular attention should also be paid to electronic contracts and instalment mechanisms, the delivery of goods and refunds, as well as strengthening the accountability of online platforms.
Other areas identified include introducing digital mechanisms for pre-trial dispute resolution, improving electronic document management and increasing the legal literacy of consumers and businesses.
The committee noted that its work is not limited to reviewing individual complaints. Based on an analysis of incoming complaints, proposals are being developed to systematically address the problems identified and further improve consumer protection mechanisms in e-commerce.
