Central Asian States Agree on Water and Energy Balance in Bishkek

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A routine working meeting of the heads of energy and water management agencies of Central Asian countries was held in Bishkek.

The negotiations were attended by the ministers of energy and water resources of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, the Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan, and Muzaffar Boboev, Director of the State Unitary Enterprise "National Dispatch Center" under the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

The parties focused on the current status and prospects of regional cooperation in the water and energy sectors. Meeting participants discussed in detail mechanisms for the effective and rational use of water and energy resources during the summer period, as well as coordinated measures to ensure stable and uninterrupted power supply to the states of the region.

During the discussion, it was emphasized that against the backdrop of dynamic population growth, accelerated development of various economic sectors, and a general increase in demand for energy resources, close regional cooperation serves as a critically important factor for ensuring collective water and energy security.

Following the multilateral talks, the heads of the delegations signed a joint Protocol. The document regulates clear mutual obligations for the guaranteed supply of necessary water and energy resources to Central Asian countries during the peak summer period of July and August 2026.
