Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Officers of the Department for Combating Smuggling of the Bukhara Regional Customs Department have stopped an attempt to illegally import a large consignment of nicotine prohibited for import into Uzbekistan. The Bukhara Regional Customs Department reported this.
The shipment was brought into the country under the import customs regime, while customs documents declared it as raw material for the production of perfume products. However, the Risk Management System directed the shipment to the “red channel,” after which it underwent customs inspection.
During the inspection, samples were taken using a special rapid testing device. Analysis showed that the declared product was actually liquid nicotine. This was also confirmed by a report from the H. Sulaymonova Republican Center for Forensic Examination, which established that the seized substance was liquid nicotine used primarily in the production of electronic cigarettes.
According to preliminary data, the total weight of the seized nicotine was 70 kilograms, while its value was estimated at 2 billion 100 million soums.
All procedural actions in the case have now been completed. The seized goods will be destroyed in accordance with established procedures based on a relevant court decision.
