Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Belarusian parliament will consider ratifying an intergovernmental agreement with Uzbekistan on the temporary employment of citizens.
The relevant draft law has been published on Belarus’ National Legal Internet Portal.
The document regulates key issues related to the employment of Uzbek citizens in Belarus.
In particular, the agreement contains provisions on labour relations, social guarantees, remuneration and labour protection, taxation and medical insurance. These matters will be governed in accordance with Belarusian legislation.
The agreement also separately establishes procedures to be followed in the event of the death of a migrant worker.
Under the document, Uzbek workers may, by agreement with their employer, be released from work on official public holidays of Uzbekistan.
If an employment contract or a special work permit is terminated or expires, the migrant worker will be required to cease employment and leave Belarus.
If an employment contract is not concluded for reasons attributable to the employer rather than the Uzbek citizen, the issue of reimbursing the expenses incurred will be considered.
At the same time, the Belarusian parliament will consider a protocol amending the intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and Uzbekistan on mutual travel of citizens.
Under the proposed amendments, migrant workers will be required to register in Belarus within 10 days of entering the country.
