Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have launched 10 investment projects with a combined value of US$389 million.
Jasurbek Choriev, Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA, announced the figures.
According to him, the projects were launched during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Uzbekistan on 23–24 August. At the time of the interview, Choriev served as Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan.
One of the projects involves the construction of a network of filling stations by Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company (SOCAR). During the first stage, five filling stations are planned in Namangan, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Syrdarya and Tashkent regions.
Construction has also begun on Azerbaijan Park, covering four hectares, in the New Tashkent area.
According to Choriev, the projects being implemented reflect the expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries.
The investments cover energy infrastructure and other areas of bilateral cooperation.
