Vucic Offers Uzbekistan Cooperation on Long-Range Missiles

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Serbia plans to begin producing long-range ballistic missiles within a year and is ready to cooperate with Uzbekistan in this area, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said at the Serbia-Uzbekistan Business Forum in Belgrade.

Addressing Uzbek entrepreneurs, Vucic said Serbia’s defence industry is developing rapidly, including through the adoption of foreign experience and the transfer of technologies between partners.

According to the Serbian president, during the forum he asked Nenad Miloradovic, Assistant Minister of Defence for Material Resources, when Serbia would be able to begin producing long-range ballistic missiles. Vucic noted that Serbia is already producing short-range missiles.

Miloradovic, the Serbian president said, estimated that the necessary preparations would take one year.

“In a year, we will begin producing long-range ballistic missiles, and we are ready to cooperate with you on this issue as well,” Vucic said, addressing representatives of Uzbekistan.

The Serbian president stressed that such information is rarely disclosed publicly in the country. According to him, the plans reflect Serbia’s technological and industrial progress, as well as the results achieved by local specialists.

Vucic made the statement during the first-ever visit by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Serbia.

Following the visit, Belgrade and Tashkent announced the establishment of strategic partnership relations. The Serbia-Uzbekistan Business Forum was also held as part of the visit, with the Serbian president addressing representatives of Uzbek business.
