Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s industrial enterprises produced goods worth 926.5 trillion soums in January-August 2026, with industrial production increasing by 8% year on year, according to the National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

Manufacturing accounted for the largest share of industrial output at 805.7 trillion soums, or 87% of the total. Production in the sector increased by 9.1%.

Electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply accounted for 58.2 trillion soums, or 6.3% of total output, rising by 11.8%. Mining and quarrying generated 57.8 trillion soums, or 6.2%, although production in the sector fell by 2.4%. Water supply, sewerage, waste collection and disposal accounted for 4.8 trillion soums, or 0.5%, with output increasing by 10.2%.

Within manufacturing, food, beverages and tobacco accounted for 20.1% of output, while textiles, clothing and leather goods represented 11.9%. Chemicals, rubber and plastics accounted for 6.3%. Metal products, electronics, machinery, motor vehicles, other transport equipment, and machinery repair and installation together accounted for 15.2%.

Hydrocarbon production declined. Natural gas output fell 16.3% to 24.2 billion cubic metres from 28.9 billion cubic metres a year earlier. Gas condensate production decreased by 14.8% to 648,300 tonnes, while oil production fell 2.2% to 425,000 tonnes. Coal production declined 10.2% to 4.4 million tonnes.

At the same time, motor gasoline production increased by 4.6% to 811,300 tonnes, while diesel fuel output rose 6.1% to 834,300 tonnes. Portland cement production increased by 2.2% to 14.1 million tonnes.

Electricity generation rose 7.3% to 60.5 billion kWh. Large enterprises generated 40.4 billion kWh, down 2% from a year earlier. Small enterprises whose main activity is electricity generation increased output by 32.4% to 20.2 billion kWh. Heat generation by large enterprises fell 19.1% to 10.9 million Gcal.

Passenger car production increased by 9.2% to 310,400 units. Cobalt production was the highest at 107,100 vehicles, up 8.2%. BYD recorded the fastest growth among the listed brands, with output increasing 84.5% from 12,900 to 23,900 vehicles. Onix production rose 16.1% to 23,500 units, KIA production increased 12.9% to 19,400, and Haval production grew 17.4% to 6,200.

Damas production fell 4.9% to 55,000 vehicles, while Tracker output declined 0.5% to 29,800 and Chery production fell 2.7% to 5,800. Another 1,500 Chevrolet Damas Move vehicles were produced. Truck production increased 42% to 3,900 units, while automotive engine production rose 6.9% to 160,700 units.

In the textile sector, cotton yarn production increased by 50.9% to 543,700 tonnes. Cotton fabric output rose 18.2% to 74.7 million square metres, knitted fabric production increased 5.2% to 56,600 tonnes, and knitted underwear production rose 43.4% to 96 million units. Production of knitted outerwear, however, declined 9.5% to 35.1 million units. Uzbekistan also produced 972,300 tonnes of wheat flour.

By region, the largest volumes of industrial output were recorded in Navoi region at 205.7 trillion soums, Tashkent at 158.4 trillion soums and Tashkent region at 147.7 trillion soums. The highest growth rates were recorded in Jizzakh region, at 13.2%, followed by Samarkand region at 9.4% and Andijan region at 9.1%. The lowest growth rates, both at 7.2%, were recorded in Navoi region and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

Average industrial production per capita nationwide amounted to 24.1 million soums, compared with 17.5 million soums a year earlier. The growth rate of the indicator was 106.1%, representing a 6.1% increase in comparable terms.

Per-capita industrial output was above the national average in Navoi region at 184.4 million soums, Tashkent at 49.6 million soums and Tashkent region at 46.5 million soums. Per-capita production growth above the national rate was recorded in Jizzakh region at 11.1%, Samarkand region at 7.4% and Andijan region at 7.3%.

As of 1 September 2026, Uzbekistan had 65,300 industrial enterprises. Food producers accounted for the largest group, with 13,200 enterprises, or 20.2%, followed by manufacturers of other non-metallic mineral products with 9,200 enterprises, or 14%, and clothing producers with 6,700 enterprises, or 10.3%.

Another 5,400 enterprises produced finished metal products, 4,500 manufactured furniture, 4,000 produced textiles and 3,000 manufactured rubber and plastic products.
