Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Mining and Geology and the World Bank discussed sustainable development of the mining and geological sectors, improvements to state policy and the introduction of international standards.
The meeting was held on 28 September with the participation of F. Khamidova, First Deputy Minister of Mining and Geology, responsible ministry officials and representatives of the World Bank delegation, the ministry said.
The sides reviewed areas of bilateral cooperation related to the sustainable development of the mining and geological sectors, improvements to state policy, the introduction of advanced international standards and the development of value chains.
Particular attention was paid to a project to develop the national Women in Mining Uzbekistan platform.
During the discussions, the sides exchanged views on strengthening the professional and leadership potential of women in the mining and geological sector.
They also discussed expanding women’s participation in technical and managerial positions across the industry.
