Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's women's under-23 boxing team finished first in the overall standings at the Asian Boxing Championships in Jakarta.
Following the finals, Uzbek boxers won nine medals, including six gold, one silver and two bronze, securing first place in the team rankings. Kazakhstan finished second, while India placed third.
Uzbekistan's gold medallists were Gulsevar Ganieva (51 kg), who defeated Kazakhstan's Anita Adisheva 4-1 in the final; Khumorabonu Mamajonova (57 kg), who beat Kazakhstan's Ulzhan Sarsenbek 4-1; Mushtariybonu Ibrohimjonova (60 kg), who defeated India's Nikita Chand 5-0; Sevinch Khurramova (65 kg), who beat India's Kajal 4-1; Rukhshona Parpiyeva (80 kg), who defeated Kazakhstan's Kuralay Yeginbaikyzy 5-0; and Sobirakhon Shakhobiddinova (over 80 kg), who overcame India's Priyanka 4-1 in the final.
Rayhona Kurbonboyeva (70 kg) won the silver medal after losing 2-3 to Kazakhstan's Aziza Issina in the final.
Two other Uzbek boxers claimed bronze medals, adding to the team's overall medal tally.
The result means that, following the victory of Uzbekistan's U19 girls' team, the country's U23 team has also won the overall team title.
The Asian Championships in Jakarta will next feature junior and youth finals, where members of Uzbekistan's men's team will continue competing for medals.
