Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's national boxing team won seven gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the Asian U19 Boxing Championships in Jakarta, finishing first in the overall team standings. The final day of competition featured the boys' championship bouts.
Utkirbek Norkosimov won the Asian title in the under-50 kg category after defeating Kazakhstan's Edil Askanbay by a unanimous 5-0 decision.
In the under-55 kg division, Elyor Rustamov claimed gold with a 5-0 victory over India's Aditya. Muhammadrizo Ukimov also secured a 5-0 win in the under-60 kg category, defeating Thailand's Siwa Chainarong.
Sukhrob Rakhmatullayev captured the under-75 kg title after stopping South Korea's Dongjin Kim in the second round.
Abror Sharipov won gold in the under-80 kg category. After losing the opening round, he came back to defeat Kazakhstan's Timur Taibekov.
In the under-85 kg final, Sardorbek Bakhromkhujayev edged Kazakhstan's Ruslan Akhmetov by a 3-2 decision.
Asadbek Sultanboyev earned Uzbekistan's seventh gold medal in the under-90 kg category with a 5-0 victory over India's Shubham Rajput. Rajput was given three standing counts during the bout.
Islam Salikhov took silver in the over-90 kg category after losing the final to Kazakhstan's Vladislav Samozhonov by a 3-2 decision.
Earlier, Saidkhuja Sadillakhujayev won bronze in the under-70 kg division. He lost his semifinal bout to Kazakhstan's Bibaris Ashirbay by a unanimous 5-0 decision.
Uzbekistan finished first in the overall team standings at the Asian U19 Boxing Championships. Kazakhstan placed second, while South Korea finished third.
