Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s U-23 Olympic team failed to win a bronze medal at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games. In the third-place match, the team lost to China in a penalty shootout.

China opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Hu Hetu. Shortly before the break, Bahromov restored parity in the 43rd minute.

China regained the lead in the second half. Wang Wu Wei scored his team’s second goal in the 53rd minute.

Uzbekistan managed to equalise late in the match. In the 89th minute, Shodiyor Shodiboev found the net for China, bringing the score at the end of regulation time to 2-2.

Under the tournament regulations, the winner was decided by a penalty shootout. Uzbekistan lost the shootout 3-4.

As a result, the U-23 team finished its Asian Games campaign without a medal.
