Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Japan have agreed to train an initial group of 40 Uzbek citizens for employment in the restaurant industry. The programme will provide culinary training in line with Japanese standards, followed by employment opportunities in Japan.
The training and employment arrangements were discussed by representatives of Uzbekistan's Migration Agency with representatives of Japanese companies M&K and Yo’l Japan LLC, as well as Kanazawa Professional University of Food Management.
The programme will consist of two stages. During the first six months, participants will study in Uzbekistan at the INTIL centre and a vocational education institution in Bostanlyk district. The training will include Japanese language lessons and professional chef training.
Participants will then continue their studies in Japan for one year. At this stage, they will be able to pursue vocational education while also working.
The programme also includes preparation for obtaining a chef's licence recognised by the Japanese government.
Specialists who meet the established requirements and obtain the licence will be eligible to apply for jobs at Japanese restaurants around the world.
The Migration Agency said it would publish further information about the programme and registration procedures once the relevant arrangements have been approved.
