Uzbekistan to modernize Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to modernize its fleet of Russian helicopters Mi-8 and Mi-24 to use latest night-vision glasses, ITAR-TASS reported.

The modernization can be carried out at 16 helicopters of Mi-8 and 16 helicopters of Mi-24. It is planned that to adapt cabin of the helicopters for use of the third generation of night-vision system. Uzbekistan and Russia are planning to concretize these plans at MAKS-2013 exhibition.

Russia and Uzbekistan are cooperating in technical maintenance and repair of Russian-made helicopter via the Uzbek-Russian joint venture UzRosAvia in line with the agreement with Vertolety Rossii, signed in 2009.

AEX.ru reported that in line with the agreement the venture provides maintenance and repair services to helicopters of Uzbekistan and other Central Asian states. The agreement was inked for five years with opportunity prolongation.

The sides should also agree the place, where modernization of helicopters will be carried out in Russia or in Uzbekistan.
