Uzbekistan, Syria Discuss Expanding Exports via Aleppo Trading House
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Davron Vakhabov, held a meeting with a key partner of the chamber in Syria—Ahmad Kalash, head of Kalash Trading Company Ltd and founder of the Uzbek-Syrian Trading House in Aleppo.
The main topic of the negotiations was the effective utilization of the new platform's potential to expand the presence of Uzbek manufacturers in the Syrian market. The official opening of this Uzbek-Syrian trading house and its accompanying distribution center took place in Aleppo on 21 May 2026.
Logistical conditions for exporters are assessed as favorable: transporting one container from Uzbekistan to Aleppo takes about 8 to 10 days, and delivery costs average US$2 thousand to US$3 thousand.
During the dialogue, the parties discussed in detail the mechanisms for placing domestic goods and organizing their sales through the distribution network in Syria. To facilitate a deeper analysis of export opportunities, an agreement was reached to organize visits to manufacturing enterprises in Uzbekistan. The Syrian side intends to personally inspect the capacity of local factories and plants to select the most in-demand products, taking into account the specific characteristics and needs of its domestic market, as well as to conclude direct export contracts.
Following the meeting, the partners agreed to intensify joint work to attract business circles to the opportunities offered by the trading house. In the near future, it is planned to significantly expand the permanent exposition of Uzbek goods at the exhibition site in Aleppo, which is expected to serve as a driver for increasing total export volumes from Uzbekistan to the Syrian Arab Republic.
