Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The first Uzbekistan-South Africa business forum was held in Johannesburg on 22 September 2026, bringing together representatives of government institutions, business associations and companies from the two countries.

Representatives of more than 60 companies and organizations took part in the event. The main focus was on expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, establishing direct business ties and implementing joint projects.

Participants identified mining, agricultural processing, energy, automotive manufacturing, textiles, information technology and tourism as promising areas for cooperation.

The forum also addressed the creation of joint production facilities and value-added chains, as well as expanding companies' access to the markets of Central Asia and Africa.

The event included bilateral business meetings, where participants discussed opportunities for product supplies, the development of logistics and customs infrastructure, attracting investment and promoting exporters in the Uzbek and South African markets.

The forum resulted in agreements to further develop practical cooperation and expand direct contacts between business communities. The parties also agreed to organize reciprocal business missions.

Participants supported the idea of holding the Uzbekistan-South Africa business forum on a regular basis. The platform is expected to be used to promote new trade and investment initiatives between the two countries.
