Uzbekistan, Serbia to Establish Trade Houses in Belgrade and Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the Tashkent International Investment Forum (TIIF-2026), the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, held official negotiations with the Minister of International Economic Relations of the Republic of Serbia, Nenad Popovich.

The main vector of the discussion was the comprehensive activation of bilateral cooperation, with a specific focus on preparing for the first, historic meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission. To strengthen direct contacts between the business communities of both countries, the parties also agreed to organize a large-scale Uzbek-Serbian business forum.

During the talks, the relevant ministers outlined practical steps to diversify and expand mutual trade turnover. A key initiative in this direction will be the establishment of mutual trade houses in the capitals of both states—Tashkent and Belgrade—which will allow for more effective promotion of national export potential in foreign markets. Additionally, the Serbian side expressed readiness to facilitate the broad participation of Uzbek companies in major international exhibition projects held in Serbia.

Within the investment agenda, special attention was paid to launching high-tech joint projects. The ministers identified the pharmaceutical industry, deep localization of manufacturing, and the comprehensive modernization of transport infrastructure as the most promising sectors for cooperation.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to transform the reached agreements into a portfolio of firm commercial contracts ahead of the upcoming Intergovernmental Commission session.
