Uzbekistan private schools reach 551 nationwide

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A total of 551 non-state general education institutions were operating in Uzbekistan at the beginning of the 2025/2026 academic year, according to the National Statistics Committee.

Compared to the previous academic year, the number of private schools increased by 96, representing a growth of 21.1%.

The highest concentration of non-state schools is in Tashkent, where 145 such institutions operate. This is followed by the Ferghana region with 121 schools. In the Samarkand region, there are 43 private schools, while Andijan and Namangan regions each have 37. The Bukhara region has 32 private schools.

In Kashkadarya region, 31 non-state schools are operating, and in Tashkent region there are 30. The Khorezm region has 26 schools. Syrdarya region has 17 private schools, Jizzakh region has 12, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan has 10. The lowest figures were recorded in Navoi and Surkhandarya regions, with five schools each.
