Uzbekistan Nominal GDP Per Capita Reaches US$3,879

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The nominal GDP of Uzbekistan per capita reached US$3,879 at the end of 2025, representing an increase of US$614 compared to the previous year. These figures were provided by the Central Bank in its financial stability review.

A decomposition of the increase illustrates the factors behind the shifting indicator. Nominal GDP growth added US$659, while the appreciation of the soum against the US dollar contributed an additional US$18. Conversely, an increase in the permanent population reduced the per capita figure by US$63, as economic growth was distributed across a larger number of inhabitants.

One year prior, the impact of the currency component was reversed. In 2024, the weakening of the exchange rate reduced the US dollar-denominated indicator by US$209, causing per capita GDP to grow only from US$2,953 to US$3,265. In 2025, the 6.9% appreciation of the soum had a positive effect for the first time in recent years.

The growth in per capita income became one of the factors contributing to the decline in the debt burden of the population, the Central Bank noted. The average debt service-to-income ratio for bank borrowers fell from 38% to 37% over the course of the year, despite rapid growth in the retail credit portfolio.
