Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Bakhtiyor Muminov, whose difficult situation in Russia was recently reported on social media, is a citizen of the Russian Federation, the Uzbekistan Migration Agency said in an official statement.
The Migration Agency’s representative office in Russia and the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Rostov-on-Don visited the site of the incident and established the man’s identity.
The investigation found that Bakhtiyor Muminov moved to Russia with his family in the 1990s and subsequently obtained Russian citizenship.
The relevant law enforcement agencies confirmed that the man shown in the video circulating on social media is a Russian citizen.
Muminov’s close relatives are also citizens of the Russian Federation.
The Migration Agency said that, within the scope of its authority, it provides practical assistance to Uzbek citizens who find themselves in difficult situations abroad.
In such cases, citizens can contact Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions and consular offices.
