Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met with First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Khamis Atiyeh in Arusha to discuss further development of bilateral relations and expansion of interparliamentary cooperation.
The sides discussed new areas of interaction and prospects for further developing ties between Uzbekistan and Jordan.
The meeting noted that relations between Uzbekistan and Jordan are based on mutual respect and shared spiritual and cultural values. Participants said regular dialogue between the two countries’ heads of state provides a basis for further expanding cooperation.
Particular attention was paid to interparliamentary ties. The sides noted that the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries’ senates during the visit of Jordanian Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez to Uzbekistan in February this year had created additional opportunities to expand parliamentary dialogue.
In this regard, the sides stressed the importance of intensifying direct contacts between interparliamentary cooperation groups and relevant committees. They also noted the need to develop a joint roadmap and for the parliaments to support the implementation of agreements reached by the heads of state.
The participants also exchanged views on prospects for expanding cooperation in industrial cooperation, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, logistics and tourism.
The importance of further developing cooperation in education and science was also emphasized.
