Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan imported 421,918 tonnes of potatoes from 11 countries in January-June 2026, with the total value of the imports reaching US$34 million, according to the National Statistics Committee.
The volume of potato imports fell by nearly 46,900 tonnes compared with the same period last year, the committee said.
Kazakhstan was the largest supplier, accounting for 337,900 tonnes of the potatoes imported by Uzbekistan during the first six months of the year.
Pakistan ranked second with 33,800 tonnes, followed by Kyrgyzstan with 14,800 tonnes and Afghanistan with 13,500 tonnes.
Uzbekistan also imported 9,700 tonnes of potatoes from the Netherlands, while supplies from other countries totaled 12,200 tonnes.
Kazakhstan therefore accounted for about 80% of Uzbekistan's total potato imports during the six-month period. This share is calculated from 337,900 tonnes supplied by Kazakhstan out of the overall 421,918 tonnes imported.
In volume terms, total potato imports declined by about 10% compared with January-June 2025, representing a reduction of nearly 46,900 tonnes from the volume recorded in the first half of 2026.
