Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee Abdulla Aziz Akkulov met with Nicolas Rollo, Director of the European and North Atlantic Office of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The Tourism Committee said.
The sides discussed ICAO’s activities, the organization’s role in developing international civil aviation and the current state of cooperation with Uzbekistan.
Nicolas Rollo noted that ICAO is a specialized UN agency that coordinates cooperation among 193 states in the field of civil aviation and develops international aviation standards and recommended practices.
The meeting noted that Uzbekistan’s aviation sector has become one of the fastest-growing areas in Central Asia in recent years. At the same time, the country’s cooperation with ICAO has been steadily expanding.
Practical work is focused on improving airport infrastructure and introducing modern technologies and innovative solutions.
The sides paid particular attention to the importance of civil aviation for tourism development. Participants said that expanding international air connectivity, creating favorable conditions for flight operations and improving the quality of airport services could help increase the number of foreign tourists, open up new tourism markets and promote Uzbekistan’s tourism potential internationally.
Following the talks, the sides agreed to continue joint work and expand cooperation in tourism development, increasing international tourist flows and strengthening links between the aviation and tourism sectors.
