Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan is expanding measures to provide financial support to the agricultural sector.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has adopted a resolution “On measures to improve the effectiveness of financial support for the agricultural sector and improve the risk management system.”
The document provides for a number of subsidies for agricultural entities.
For each tonne of raw cotton from the 2026 harvest, excluding fourth- and fifth-grade cotton, a subsidy of 500,000 soums will be provided.
Cotton-textile clusters and enterprises founded by them will receive 1.5 million soums for each hectare of land assigned to them where cotton is grown in 2026.
Livestock farms will receive an annual subsidy of 500,000 soums per hectare of sown area where fodder crops are grown on the main cultivated areas in 2027–2029.
A conclusion from the Agency for Space Research and Technology will serve as the basis for providing the payment.
In addition, from 1 October 2026 to 1 June 2027, entrepreneurs will receive 2,500 soums for each kilogram of imported chilled beef and mutton.
From 1 January 2027 to 1 January 2028, a pilot legal experiment is planned to introduce a mechanism subsidizing part of agricultural producers’ expenses on implementing water-saving irrigation technologies.
Payments will be made under the principle of a “Performance-Based Subsidy.”
The amount of such a subsidy will be determined based on the recipient’s expenses, as well as crop yields, product quality and other performance indicators.
The resolution also introduces changes to the agricultural insurance system.
For farms that have not had an insured event for three consecutive years, a discount of 10% to 20% on the insurance premium will be provided starting from the fourth year.
At the same time, 3% to 5% of insurance premiums will be allocated to a reserve to finance preventive measures.
