Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Istanbul, on the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva held meetings with IPU President Tulia Ackson and Secretary General Martin Chungong.

During the talks, the significant role of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in advancing interparliamentary cooperation, promoting democratic principles, and supporting sustainable development goals was highlighted. It was noted that Uzbekistan’s cooperation with the IPU has been steadily strengthening and has reached a new qualitative level. Particular recognition was given to the 150th юбилейная Assembly previously held in Tashkent.

The parties reviewed the outcomes of joint work in connection with the completion of the current IPU leadership’s term and discussed the results of cooperation in key areas of parliamentary interaction in recent years.

It was noted that, as a result of ongoing reforms, Uzbekistan’s parliament has significantly strengthened its position and international visibility. IPU leadership highly praised the organization of international parliamentary events in Uzbekistan, emphasizing that the 150th Assembly in Tashkent set a benchmark in terms of organizational standards.

Special attention was given to preparations for the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, scheduled to take place on 4–6 September in Samarkand. Confidence was expressed in its successful organization with the support of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Following the meetings, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further expanding cooperation and implementing joint initiatives in the field of parliamentary diplomacy.
