Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s exports of natural and artificial gas amounted to US$322.3 million in January-August 2026, down 34.8% from the same period in 2025.
Gas imports reached US$1.22 billion over the same period, an increase of 15.2%, according to the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Imports of liquefied gas, including propane, amounted to US$124.3 million and increased 3.5-fold.
Exports of oil, petroleum products and similar materials increased 46.3% to US$593.1 million. Imports of this group reached US$1.35 billion, up 3.2%.
Fuel and lubricants accounted for US$1.02 billion of petroleum product imports, 1% less than a year earlier. Gasoline imports increased 48.6% to US$437.4 million. Diesel fuel imports fell 12.3% to US$179.5 million.
Overall exports of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials amounted to US$1.06 billion, compared with US$1.01 billion a year earlier. The increase was 4.3%, while the group’s share of total exports rose to 4.6% from 4.3% in January-August 2025. In addition to gas and petroleum products, the group included electricity exports worth US$139.2 million, up 25.2%, and coal exports worth US$2.3 million, up 11.4%.
Imports of mineral fuels increased 7.2% to US$2.75 billion, compared with US$2.57 billion a year earlier. Their share of total imports declined from 8.6% to 8%. Coal imports increased 0.2% to US$124.9 million, while electricity imports fell 24.1% to US$57.5 million.
According to the statistics agency, Uzbekistan produced 24.2 billion cubic metres of natural gas in January-August 2026, compared with 28.9 billion cubic metres in the same period of 2025, a decline of 16.3%.
Oil production amounted to 425,000 tonnes, compared with 434,500 tonnes a year earlier, a decrease of 2.2%. Gas condensate production fell 14.8%, from 760,500 tonnes to 648,300 tonnes.
Automotive gasoline production amounted to 811,300 tonnes, compared with 775,700 tonnes a year earlier, an increase of 4.6%. Diesel fuel production reached 834,300 tonnes, compared with 786,600 tonnes, up 6.1%.
