Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Central Bank of Uzbekistan held a meeting with a World Bank delegation led by Haishan Fu, Chief Statistician of the World Bank Group and Director of the Development Data Group.
The sides discussed the Central Bank’s participation in implementing the National Strategy “Development of Statistics – 2030” and priorities for building a modern, reliable and integrated national statistical system.
The meeting included a presentation on strengthening the Central Bank’s statistical activities at the institutional and technological levels.
In particular, it was noted that the Department of Statistics and Balance of Payments was established in 2026. The department brought together monetary and financial statistics, balance of payments statistics, digitalization of statistical processes and methodological improvement.
The Central Bank is currently developing a medium-term strategy for statistical development. At the same time, work is continuing to automate and digitalize statistical processes.
The participants paid particular attention to consistency among national accounts, monetary and financial statistics, and external sector statistics. Discussions covered the use of common definitions, classifications and metadata, regular coordination of key macroeconomic indicators and harmonization of data revision processes.
The sides also reviewed preparations for the transition to updated international standards, including the 2025 System of National Accounts (SNA 2025) and the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (BPM7, 2025).
The meeting also addressed interagency information exchange, improvements to data governance mechanisms, and requirements for the quality and confidentiality of statistical information.
