Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The second meeting of the Uzbekistan–UK Joint Economic Committee was held in Tashkent on 9 October.
The meeting was co-chaired by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and UK Minister of State for Trade Anas Sarwar.
One of the key topics was bilateral trade and economic relations. From January to August 2026, trade between the two countries increased by 12.6% to nearly US$250 million.
Participants discussed ways to expand access for Uzbek goods to the British market.
The discussions covered the use of the UK’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS), simplified certification procedures, the removal of technical barriers and the promotion of Uzbek products in British retail chains.
The two sides also focused on implementing 46 projects and attracting financing with the participation of UK Export Finance.
Other items on the agenda included developing the Tashkent International Financial Centre and expanding industrial cooperation in electrical engineering, critical minerals, pharmaceuticals and transport engineering.
Following the meeting, the parties signed the protocol of the committee’s second session.
The document formalises the agreements reached in trade, investment, industry, digital technologies, finance and healthcare.
