Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Justice Akbar Tashkulov and Türkiye’s Minister of Justice Akin Gürlek discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in the legal field.

The meeting took place in Istanbul on the sidelines of the third meeting of the Council of Ministers of Justice of the Organisation of Turkic States.

The parties reviewed the current state of cooperation between the two countries in justice and the judicial and legal system, as well as potential areas for further collaboration.

Particular attention was paid to implementing the Cooperation Programme for 2026–2027.

Key topics included the development of mediation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, the legal profession, state-funded legal aid, the training and professional development of legal specialists, and cooperation in legal information.

The participants also discussed opportunities to expand the exchange of experience in mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). This included mediator training, the use of such mechanisms before court proceedings and during judicial proceedings, and the digitalisation of the system.

Another area of discussion was cooperation between the Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training of Legal Personnel under Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Justice and the Turkish Justice Academy.

The parties considered organising reciprocal training visits and internships, as well as holding joint seminars.

Following the meeting, the ministers agreed to strengthen practical cooperation between their agencies, expand the exchange of experience and steadily implement joint initiatives.
