Uzbekistan and Switzerland Discuss Groundwater Monitoring
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held at the State Institution “Uzbekhydrogeology” with representatives of Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation, attended by officials from the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology, the “GIDROINGEO” Institute, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) project team.
During the talks, the sides discussed prospects for continued participation in grant projects implemented by Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation, aimed at strengthening cooperation in the rational use of water resources.
Particular attention was given to the protection and monitoring of groundwater, as well as improving observation systems and assessment methodologies for groundwater conditions.
The discussions also covered approaches to evaluating transboundary groundwater resources in cooperation with Tajikistan, which is considered important for regional water balance and joint management of natural resources.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants exchanged views on potential directions for further cooperation within international projects and technical assistance frameworks.
