Uzbekistan and Liechtenstein Move to Expand Economic Ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Delegations from Uzbekistan and Liechtenstein have discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation during a meeting held on 30 June 2026. The talks took place on the sidelines of a regular meeting of the Swiss Constituency of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

The negotiations were held between Brigitte Haas, Prime Minister and Minister for General Government Affairs and Finance of the Principality of Liechtenstein, and Jamshid Kuchkarov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The meeting was also attended by Eve Beck, Secretary General of the Ministry of General Government Affairs and Finance of Liechtenstein; Daniela Sele, Senior Advisor to the ministry; Timur Ishmetov, Chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan; Ilkhom Norkulov, First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan; and other officials.

During the talks, the sides reviewed issues regarding the development of trade, economic, and investment cooperation, prospects for interaction in the financial sector, and other areas of mutual interest.

Special attention was paid to the gradual expansion of economic ties, the attraction of investment, and the implementation of joint initiatives.

The representatives of the Liechtenstein delegation noted the growing interest of their country's private sector in the economy of Uzbekistan. They emphasized that significant potential exists for further cooperation, including the participation of companies operating in the construction and healthcare sectors.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain dialogue and continue developing practical interaction in areas of mutual interest.
