Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Japan discussed further development of the JDS scholarship programme, which focuses on strengthening the professional capacity of civil servants.

The cooperation issues were discussed by U. Khuseinova, acting director of the Agency for Management Efficiency, and Tomomi Igarashi, regional project manager of the JDS JICE office in Uzbekistan.

One of the main topics of the meeting was arrangements for admitting civil servants to JDS master’s programmes for the 2027–2028 academic year. The sides also discussed the need to adapt the programme’s educational areas to current priorities, including environmental sustainability and climate change.

Particular attention was paid to studying Japan’s experience in seismic risk management and the development of resilient infrastructure. Other areas identified for further study included Digital Twin technologies, geographic information systems (GIS) and intelligent transport systems.

The participants also considered the effective use of the potential of JDS programme graduates within the public administration system.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue cooperation on aligning the JDS programme with Uzbekistan’s strategic priorities and introducing advanced Japanese experience into public administration practices.

The Agency for Management Efficiency serves as the national partner in international scholarship programmes that provide opportunities for civil servants to study abroad.
