Uzbekistan and Hong Kong to establish joint Business Council

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce have signed a memorandum of understanding providing for the establishment of the Uzbekistan-Hong Kong Business Council.

The document is aimed at strengthening trade and economic ties and expanding investment cooperation between the business communities of the two sides.

The new Business Council will serve as a permanent platform for interaction between entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan and Hong Kong. Its activities will focus on developing business contacts, promoting joint projects and expanding cooperation in trade and investment.

Preparations for the agreement began in March this year during a visit by Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to China, Farhod Arziev, to the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.

The parties subsequently continued their work through a series of meetings and consultations. Additional momentum for cooperation was provided by a visit of a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan to Hong Kong in May.

Under the agreements reached, practical cooperation will be developed through business forums, B2B meetings, trade missions and the exchange of experience between business representatives.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan said implementation of the memorandum would create additional opportunities for entrepreneurs on both sides, contribute to the growth of bilateral trade and further strengthen the investment partnership between Uzbekistan and Hong Kong.
