Two children drown in Bozsu canal in Tashkent Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the Bostanlyk district of Tashkent Region, the search for two boys, aged 8 and 10, who fell into the Bozsu canal on 17 June 2026, has concluded. The bodies of both children were discovered by rescuers during a multi-day search and rescue operation, the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
The tragedy occurred on the territory of the Obod mahalla, where the canal flows near residential buildings. According to available data, the children accidentally fell into the water.
Search and rescue operations were carried out continuously for several days with the involvement of divers and emergency services personnel. The body of one of the boys was discovered on 21 June 2026.
As reported by the Emergency Situations Department of Tashkent Region, rescue divers found the body of the second child on 22 June 2026 at 16:50, after which the search operation was completed.
Competent authorities are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
