Tashkent Theatres Set for Major Modernization Plan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva has visited several cultural institutions in Tashkent and called for their modernization and strengthening of material and technical infrastructure.

During the visit, the Academic Theatre named after Mukimi, the Youth Theatre, the Puppet Theatre, as well as the “Arena” dormitory were inspected. Following the review, it was noted that these facilities require reconstruction and comprehensive upgrading.

According to Mirziyoyeva, despite the active theatrical life in the capital, existing infrastructure does not meet modern requirements and needs significant improvement. She stressed the importance of creating conditions for updating repertoires and staging contemporary productions.

Special attention was also given to the State Museum of Literature named after Alisher Navoi, where work is underway to digitize rare manuscripts aimed at preserving cultural heritage.

It was reported that responsible officials have already been appointed to address financing issues, and the implementation of planned measures has been placed under supervision.
